I always forget how heartbreakingly beautiful this story is, and I’ve read it a bunch of times already. Three Wishes is one of those fantastic KA books that grabs you and won’t let you go until you’ve read the very last word.

Fazire is a genie. After centuries of serving greedy and vengeful humans he finds a mistress whose only wish he simply can’t grant. Sarah only wants her husband back, but raising the dead is not possible, even for Fazire. This is how, for the very first time in Genie history, the wishes of one person get passed on to another.

Decades pass and one wish later, Sarah’s granddaughter Lily, after one taunt at school too many, makes the second wish. Being an avid reader and a fantastic story teller, she asks for her perfect man with a mile long list of requisites, not only for his characteristics but how their relationship development should progress. Little did she know that Fazire would be so good at wish granting, or that the saying “be careful what you wish for” could be so true. When she asked for their love to go through “trials and tribulations” to deepen… well, she could never have imagined what she was in for.

Years later, in another city in another continent, Nate had risen from the terrible circumstances of his early childhood. Coming from a more than checkered past, from the very first time he saw beautiful Lily, he knew he wasn’t worthy of her. He just couldn’t help himself.

Insta love at its best, a whirlwind romance tragically ends after only two weeks, and it’ll be almost a decade before a seemingly serendipitous encounter will bring their destiny to fruition.

Boy, does Ms. Ashley know how to take your heart and guts and twist them around! I get so invested in these characters, days later I still get choked up at what they had to go through. And even when the “I’m unworthy of my girl” trope is not one I’m particularly fond of, I still absolutely LOVE this story, in spite all my twisted innards.

Lily is selfless, loving, and caring. Her open-heartedness and her incredible capacity for forgiveness is simply inspiring. Nate is one of those closed off, aloof brooding billionaires we all love. With a troubling childhood his stand-offish attitude is not unexpected. He has more than one jerk moment and he is so good at it you want to go at him with a two by four… then again, I was so gaga for him at the end I just forgave him as easily as Lily did. That said, I feel he should have groveled a little bit there that last time, but Lily true to her character received him with open arms almost immediately.

Three Wishes is an amazing story about family, love and the power our own thoughts have over how we see things and ourselves. It’s a book that will give you all of the feels, has scorching hot sextivities, magic and great characters you can’t help but love (or hate in a couple of cases). I do recommend you read it with your Kleenex box in hand range as it will have you tearing up more than once.

Three Wishes edition by Kristen Ashley Contemporary Romance eBooks Reviews

The story was so slow and so repeating. Nate was supposed to be a hero from the romance novel. I really really want to like him but... he sometimes behaves like he's bipolar. And all through that, Lily who must have the biggest of hearts still loves him.

I was thinking while reading... this book could be told in a parallel version without a genie. It would definitely work without one. But with one, it adds the fairy tale charm to it. And it started with a wish ... from a 14 years old girl, Lily. And Fazire was quite good that his magic. She got exactly what she wished for. Trails and tribulations and everything.

""One day, I wish to find a man like in my books. He has to be just like in one of my books. And he has to love me, love me more than anything in the world. Most important of all, he has to think I'm beautiful.

He has to be hard and cold and maybe a little bit forbidding, a little bit bad with a broken heart I have to mend or one encased in ice I have to melt or better yet... both!

We have to go through some trails and tribulations. Something to test our love, make it strong and worthy. And he has to be daring and very masculine. Powerful. People must respect him, maybe even fear him. Graceful too and lithe, like a cat!

And he has to be a good lover. The best, so good, he could almost make love to me just by using his eyes."
I love Kristen Ashley books because her words pull you so deep into a story. I usually never come up for air until the words 'the end' are read and this book was no different.

Lily Jacobs came from a line of women with something special in common, a genie name Fazire. Like any genie, he grants wishes and the one fourteen year old Lily picks is a doozy.

Fast forward years later and the wish plays out in a way that she didn't expect, Nate being the result of her request.

This love affair was fast and furious, but Lily's wish doesn't make things easy for the couple. Bad things happen, and the couple separates. When they finally find each other again, Nate and his family are in for a big surprise. The Lily they knew no longer exists. Separation has turned her into someone else, but Nate is determined to find a way back to her heart, if it kills him.

One review can't cover the intricacies of this plot line. Between the supernatural aspect, Lily's family and Nate's own issues, this story had it all. I felt sad for what Lily went through, but did have empathy for Nate. I wanted to strangle most of Nate's family at several points in the book, especially his siblings (you'll understand why). They obviously were meant for each other, but Lily and her wish managed to royally screw things up.

Eventually, the couple figured it out, but the journey to that point was filled with hilarity, heartfelt moments and a mutual love for one another. Great read!
Up until about 77%, this was going to be my lowest-rated KA book ever. There are certain things I count on in the KA formula, and one of them is that once the H/h are together, any issues that arise are outside of their relationship & they face them together. This story is different (and not only because there's a genie!) from that formula, and at about 67% I was ready to toss my kindle & growl.

And then some things came together, and the rating went up a bit. My enjoyment returned. I was once again rooting for Nate and Lily. AND THEN what I thought was going to be impossible in this story, became possible. And I cried. Not about Nate & Lily, but about Fazire. About family. About... mostly it was Fazire - who I did NOT like for bits of the story, and who redeemed himself and made me fall in love.

And so, while not one of my favorite stories, and while I'm not sure this will be a re-read, it DID end up being emotionally satisfying and a wonderful read. )
